Noche 2023 Honoree - SGV Business - Compost Culture

Compost Culture, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by Liam DeVilla-Bourke and Pattrick Latting, is dedicated to advancing sustainable practices through composting. They promote composting to reduce waste, enhance soil health, and strengthen communities.

Compost Culture engages in several key initiatives:

Educational Outreach: They offer educational programs and workshops to schools, businesses, and communities to empower individuals with composting knowledge and tools.

Composting Service: Operating in the Sound Pasadena/San Marino area, they collect food waste from over 50 households weekly, diverting it from landfills and turning it into valuable compost.

Research and Innovation: Compost Culture invests in research to improve composting techniques, making them more accessible and efficient for various applications.

Advocacy: They work with local and national governments to advocate for policies that promote composting and reduce organic waste.

Their impact is substantial, having diverted thousands of tons of organic waste from landfills, significantly improved soil quality for hundreds of farmers and gardeners, and educated countless individuals about the benefits of composting, fostering a culture of sustainability.

Compost Culture remains committed to transforming waste management, and creating a greener, more sustainable future.
